Ogume To Hold Annual ‘Ikenge’ Festival Wednesday

The annual Warriors Festival (Ikenga) of the people of Ogume in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, will hold on Wednesday, 14th June, 2023.
A statement signed by HRE Dr. Sir Valentine Sunday Akpati, Regent, Ogume Traditional Council and Chief Peter Ilome, Eze Ugo of Ogume Traditional Council, said the event will hold at the Ogbe Ogume Town Square.
Kick off time for the event is 12 noon.

Ikenga festival of Ogume land is held to celebrate heroes of the area especially warriors that defended and protected the land from invaders.
These warriors are also said to have sacrificed their lives and thus prevented the extinction of the kingdom.
It is also a time to celebrate the virtues of brave Ogume people.
Ikenga festival is generally celebrated by Ukwuani speaking people spread across Ndokwa land.
