Policemen Running Vehicle Over Man In Ekpoma: Tinubu Should Take Responsibility

The viral video of a police team in a vehicle running over a man on handcuffs a police cruelty, so worst in this 21st century, and happening so, barely a week after IG Kayode Egbetokun took over as police boss in Nigeria.

Do we live with this evil? I had thought with Bola Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a passionate June 12 advocate, Nigeria will embrace civility and respect for human life, but this is far from what we see and observe.

No one placed a gun on Bola Tinubu to seek power as the Commander-In-Chief in Nigeria. Heading government is not about the privilege of using state apparatus with DSS officials wearing black suit standing by him and vehicles.

Leadership is about commitment and not to brutalised the civilians. President Bola Tinubu should be held responsible for the alleged brutality of the man the police car rode on top. We didn’t hear of this police brutality throughout Buhari’s led administration of APC.

I recollect IG Egbetokun saying he feels like a lion on being appointed Inspector General of Police. Is he going to be a lion when his officers deliberately kill civilians under his leadership as a a police chief as was seen in the video in Ekpoma in Edo state on 30th June 2023?

Since he took over, discipline is no no longer seen by the public, with rampant misconduct among his officers. He should not be a desk top IGP. He must be seen as a man appointed on merit and not on compassion.
