DELSCOTECH Provost, Augustina Erah, Emerges Notable Women In Leadership Award

The Provost of the Delta State College of Health Technology, Ofuoma, Dr. (Mrs.) Augustina Erah, yesterday, emerged with the Notable Women in Leadership Award by a Pan-African Organization, Save the Girl Child Advocacy Africa, in recognition of her unwavering commitment to women’s affairs and girl child empowerment in society.
The Provost represented by Dr. Mrs. Odiete Eravweroso at the Organization’s Annual African Girl Child Awareness held at the school on Thursday, commended the organization, attributing the award to the Provost’s efforts in gender inclusiveness and exemplary leadership.
In an opening remark by the Directorate-General for the Organization, Ambassador Fidelis Onakpoma, said the organization was deeply concerned about the broad forces of nature and nurture, and the interplay between them particularly in the life of a girl child.
He emphasized the theme of the event tagged: ‘BUILDING BRIDGES: Empowering Girls for a Brighter Tomorrow’, that it’s about taking reflective actions and building the ability to identify exactly what needs to be the focus in creating a brighter tomorrow for the girl child.

He maintained that the Annual African Girl Child Awareness Conference is a sensitization program organized to reach out to youths particularly females in tertiary institutions about the contradictory factors complicating the participation of the girl-child in leadership, empowering them for a brighter future.
While commending the collaboration and participation of the Institution in the event, Fidelis Onakpoma urged the awardees to uphold their unrelenting efforts in paving the ways for women’s leadership and girl child empowerment.
Other awardees included Dr. Mrs. Evelyn Ogah, Madam Ebiere Ganagana, Elizabeth Ekwerekwu Esq, Bishop Dr. Alice Nwogwonuwe, and Rev. Mrs. Edith Obuks.
