DELSU Library Holds One-day Workshop For Staff
In furtherance of the staff development mantra of Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyenga’s led administration, the Management of the Delta State University Library, organised a one-day workshop for all the Librarians, Library Officers, Library Assistants, and Library Attendants in the University main Library and all her branch libraries across the campuses at Oleh, Warri and Oghara.
The theme of the workshop, which was hosted by the University Librarian, Prof Stephen O. Uwaifo (now.immediate past Librarian) was tagged: ‘Positioning DELSU Library for Effective Service Delivery.
The event on the 16th of August, 2023, at the conference room of the main library, Site 3, under the distinguished Chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Andy O. Egwunyenga ably represented by the DVC Academics, Prof Ochuko Anomohanran.

Other principal officers also present during the opening ceremony were the Deputy Vice-chancellor Administration, Prof. R.N. Okoh, the Registrar, Mrs Rufina Ufiofio ably represented by Mr. S. O. Onaibre and the Bursar, Mrs Oti Omajuwa- Ekakite.
The Vice-chancellor, in his welcome address, appreciated the Library Management for putting together a timely workshop where librarians can be abreast with current trends in librarianship.
He further admonished the librarians to know that they are important and must continue to make themselves relevant in the university community by rendering effective library services to information seekers.
After his opening speech, the VC declared the workshop opened.
The workshop featured five seasoned librarians/ Resource Persons ( 4 from within the Library and one from the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro. All the papers presented were very apt. The Speakers included Dr Josephine Onohwakpor, Dr. Thaddeaus Emiri, Dr. Joseph Chukwusa, Dr. Violet Ikolo and Dr.Macus Isebe.
Prof Uwaifo, the incoming University Librarian, Dr Onowhakpor, the Chairperson of the LOC, Dr Violet Ikolo, the E- Librarian, Dr Joseph Chukusa, and others appreciateed the support of the VC and the management team for the success of the workshop.
