Eugene Inoaghan: I Am Not Seeking Another Term As Sapele LGA Chairman, Says It’s Youth O’clock

The incumbent chairman of Sapele Local Government Council in Delta State, Chief Eugene Inoaghan has said that tenure elongation is not in the best interest of party faithful.

Eugene Inoaghan while reacting to the call by Hon William Popo to run for a third tenure, said; “I have no interest to run for a third tenure. I remain a true democrat hence I would not go against the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which abhors tenure elongation.

Inoaghan while addressing newsmen, noted that while he deeply appreciates the calls which indicate the huge confidence reposed on him by majority of the people in Sapele Local Government Area, he stressed that the supremacy of the constitution is greater than the interest of an individual or group.

Sapele Council boss thanked those who believe he still has so much to offer for the development of the area, but said that he will be able to do so in a higher capacity to serve the people when they call on him to do so.

“I have never thought of a third tenure, nor contemplated running for it as chairman of Sapele Local Government because I know fully well it is against the law and the interest of other party faithful.

“There are many party faithful and individuals that are interested in running for the position of the chairman, they have started consultation and I believe that they should be given a fair chance to run for the sake of equity.

“I appreciate and thank Hon William Popo and all those who believe in me but we have to give the youth a chance, it is youth o’ clock. I implore the youths with vision and capacity to come out and run for the position of the chairman.

“I will seek higher positions in accordance with the laws of the land. I have contributed my quota to the peace, security and development of Sapele Local Government, let other competent youths come and continue from where I will stop to advance the development of Sapele.

“My appeal for those, especially the youths who are aspiring to be the chairman of the Council is for them to play the game according to the rules and above all put the interest of the people they are going serve first above their interest. They should bear in mind that power belongs to God and not man,” Inoaghan added.
