I’m In Serious Debt, No Longer Mentally Stable, Harrison Gwamnishu Cries Out For Assistance

Popular rights activist in Delta State, Harrison Gwamnishu, has made public his financial predicament due to his indebtedness to several persons, saying he is not fraudulent, but ended up in debts because of his political ambition.

He was one of the candidates of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections who had contested the State House of Assembly seat in Delta State in the March 18 election and lost.

Hours before he posted on Facebook, a user, Maria Ude Nwachi, had taken to Facebook to drag the rights activist, over the debts he (Gwamnishu) owed.

The said post by the aggrieved poster, read: “Dear Mr Harrison Gwamnishu As agreed by you that, today being the 30th day of September 2023,is the deadline for the loan of 5million Naira, which I gave you on the 15th day of February 2022 in regards to the movie project you were to commence. As agreed and documented, the capital loan is to be paid with the monthly interest of 5%, which is #250,000. I have not received any payments from you till date, as calculated from March 2022 the interest of 5% monthly is brought to the total of 4.5million adding to the capital of 5 million making a total of 9.5million. Having made much considerations, I asked you to wave the interest and pay back only the capital loan, of which you also agreed to.

“Today being 30/9/2023 (deadline) , as at 4:40pm Nigerian time, I’m yet to receive my money (5million naira) from you. I look forward to getting my money before today ends.”

Comrade Gwamnishu who began his post by
appreciating everyone that has supported him over the years and being part of his journey, said: “Just to inform you all that I’m in serious DEBT and I’m no longer mentally stable reasons for my recent post. Some friends have reached out and advised I let this out.”

He continued: “I didn’t defraud anyone. My business went bad as this can be verified. Some of my friends gave me loans during my election.

“I have made effort in paying by selling my car gifted to me and also sold some of my property to pay off this debt.

“I have given them date and failed as I have no other possible solution to pay this debt.

“I have lost sleep, lost friends and relationship and never thought I will ever be going through this phase. My dad is currently suffering from the shock all this has caused as some of them went to my parents to threaten them.”

Continuing, he said: “My love for humanity doesn’t stop me from having my own personal issues. Please to those who look up to me and feel disappointed, I am sorry that I am going through this. I am human and I can make mistakes too, but I am definitely not a fraud.

“Life happened to me and I pray that I can come out of it soonest 😭😭😭.”

Meanwhile, he disclosed that he has also resigned the leadership position he occupies in his human rights group, saying this is for as long as the matter lingers.
