Elderstown Special School Needs Assistance From Government, Others – Ugbameta

The Headteacher, Elderstown Special School, Warri , Rita Ugbameta has stated that the school for the physically challenged pupils needed urgent assistance from government, public spirited individuals and corporate organisations.
Ugbameta made this known in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent shortly after Rotary Club, Warri Central donated school bags to pupils of the school on Wednesday, 19th October, 2023.
She listed the urgent and basic needs of the school for the physically challenged pupils to include: teachers, learning and teaching materials, security guards, nannies , cooks among others.
“We have just 2 teaching staff. The others are volunteering teaching staff,” she added.
Ugbameta also disclosed that the school has an ITC without a teacher and that the security guard was a private employee.

Ugbameta further disclosed that the special school for physically challenged pupils has an hostel and that the school was also attended by physically challenged pupils from Edo and other states of the country.
She then made a passionate appeal for the employment of special teachers for hearing and virtual effects, teachers for learning disabilities, nannies, cooks, security guards among others.
Ugbameta had noted that most individuals and corporate organisations do not know of the existence of the school just as she appreciated and applauded Rotary Club Warri Central for the donation of the school bags.
