Nnajiuba Calls On Oborevwori To Develop Grassroot Sports

An Igbo Effurun based football enthusiast, Chief Anthony Nnajiuba has called on Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori to develop sports at the grassroot in Delta State.
He made the call in a media interaction with newsmen in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area on Thursday, 5th October, 2023.
The electrical merchant who is fondly called Nanto, explained that the call was necessitated by the benefits that are derived from sports mostly as they affect youths.
Nnajiuba listed the benefits to include good health, making money , discovering of talents , unity, peace among others.
He stressed that sports will meaningfully engage and take youths out of the streets.
“Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori loves football but he should also develop other sports at the grassroot in Delta State, ” Nanto added.
Nnajiuba who sponsored a football tournament in the just concluded Igbo Day celebration in Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts, proudly and gladly remarked that the said football tournament was successful and that it attracted Igbo football enthusiasts to watch matches that were played.

“It was not just the money or trophies but it brought unity among the Igbos in Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts.
“The turnout was massive. We are hoping to see more of it in subsequent Igbo Day celebrations. It was the first time the tournament was introduced in Igbo Day celebration,” he stated.
Nnajiuba also disclosed that he has been sponsoring youths in the round leather game for over 20 years and that some of his beneficiaries were doing fine in Nigerian, European and other football leagues in the World.
Nanto who hails from Orlu in Imo State had noted that Igbo Day was celebrated to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Igbos as well as to display the Igbohood among the Igbos.
