Warri Residents Jubilate Over Obire’s Tribunal Victory

There was great jubilation among some residents of Warri over the tribunal victory of the All Progressive Congress ( APC) member representing Warri South Constituency II at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Benson Obire on Monday 2nd September, 2023.

One of those who spoke to our correspondent on the tribunal victory of the lawmaker, Elder Arues Ideh who is an advocate of Wadoo City movement, claimed that the love of residents of Warri for Hon Obire goes beyond ethnicity or party membership as he attributed the love of residents for Chief Obire to his electoral victory over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate of Hon Matthew Opuoru.

“Hon Benson Obire is humble, transparent and approachable at anytime. That is why he is loved by all, irrespective of ethnic group or party affiliation,” he added.

Arues also stated that residents would have still jubilated if Hon Chief Benson Obire were to be a member of the PDP.

True to Elder Arues Ideh’s claim, Otovwodo (Agbassa) Community, the tradititioal headquarters of the ancient Agbarha Warri kingdom in Constituency 1, was in a festive mood over the tribunal victory of Hon Chief Benson Obire when our correspondent visited the area.

A renowned unionist, Comrade Kingsley Orekevwie who spoke to our correspondent at Otovwodo (Agbassa) Community, remarked that Hon Chief Benson Obire was a personality who every good minded person would want to identify with.

“He lives in the area; he was born and brought up in the area and he knows the aspirations of the people.

“So this is not an issue of ethnicity or party affiliation,” the immediate past President of the prestigious Agbarha Warri League added.

A young man who identified himself as Tosan Ajalomi in Market Road, Pessu Ward , affirmed this , as he remarked that Hon Chief Benson Obire was the people’s choice.”

“That is why people are happy about his tribunal victory,” he added.

Speaking in the same vein, the APC leader in Edjeba Ward, Hon Marcus Akuruli stated that the electoral victory of Chief Obire and the affirmation of the victory by the Asaba Election Petition Tribunal, was a testimony of the fact that the APC was in firm control of the constituency.

A joyous Hon Chief Benson Obire who spoke to our correspondent from Asaba in a telephone conversation over his tribunal victory, thanked residents for their support just as he solicited for their continued support and prayers to enable him carry out his good agenda for them.

He had earlier given God the glory for his victory at the tribunal.
