Over 70-Year-Old Mother Commits Suicide In Warri

Enamejewa Street, off Warri / Sapele Road, Warri in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State was thrown into a state of confusion as an over 70years mother of 9 children allegedly committed suicide by hanging in the morning of Monday 6th November , 2023.
The cause of the suicide was not immediately known at the time of filing this report as there was no written note from the woman who hailed from Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area.
However, it was gathered that the over 70 year-old mother said to be a devout Christian of the Roman Catholic Faith had allegedly threatened to take her life to the hearing of her children and that she allegedly attempted to take her life by drinking a poisonous substance the previous day to no avail.
She was reported to have eventually carried out her threat by hanging with her wrapper in the public toilet of the compound she lived on the fateful day.
It was gathered that it was one of her little grand daughters that sensed that something was amiss when she observed that her grandmother has over stayed in the loo.

The little girl was said to have raised an alarm that attracted co – tenants and neighbours when she saw the ugly sight of her grandmother hanging to death.
It was also gathered that the remains of the mother of 9 has been deposited in the mortuary of Central Hospital, Warri .
Efforts to confirm the bizzare incident from the Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO ) Delta State Police Headquarters, Asaba DSP Bright Edafe through calls and text messages were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
