Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe has extolled the performance of the Sapele Council chairman, Chief Eugene Inoaghan, describing it as landmark and impressive.

Comrade Oyowe made the remark Tuesday, when he led the new NUJ Delta Council State Working Committee on courtesy visit to the council chairman in his office, in Sapele Council headquarters.

The NUJ Council chairman reflected on the media’s constitutional responsibility of monitoring, surveillance and setting agenda/benchmark for developmental strides in public and private leadership and governance.

Oyowe said the media is awash of impressive reports about Sapele council and the visit was partly informed by the curiousness to see and assess the impressive performance on ground.

He commended Chief Inoaghan on his development strides in areas of health, sanitation, security, works, road infrastructure and other unprecedented facelift in the Council secretariat, especially the ultramodern legislative chamber.

Identifying a key challenge of council administration, which is paucity of funds, Comrade Oyowe stated that Sapele council in the past six years has shown ingenuity in prudent management of resources, while adjudging chief Inoaghan as one of the most hardworking chairmen in Delta.

“You have done well. The reward for good work is elevation and more work. I therefore urge the higher authorities to give you higher responsibility in government after the end of your two tenure as chairman”, the Delta NUJ chairman implored.

The chairman of NUJ in the State, thanked the chairman of Sapele council chairman for his magnanimity, particularly in the payment of Secretariat rent, while appreciating him for his continued support to NUJ Sapele chapel.
Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Eugene Okpeh Inoghan in his address, charged the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta Council to use their professional calling to promote State.

Chief Inoaghan thanked God for the emergence of Comrade Churchill Oyowe led leadership, acknowledging God as the giver of power.

He noted the importance of journalists in the society, pointing out that governance would not be complete without journalism, stressing that people would not be aware of what is happening without journalists and that governance would not be complete without journalism.

He however tasked the NUJ to ensure that practitioners thoroughly investigate and verify information before dissemination to the public, while carrying out their role as watchdog of the society.

While commending journalists in Sapele for impressive reportage of the area, Inoaghan appreciated Governor Sherrif Oborevwori for appointing Prince Oromonokpaye as a Senior Special Assistant on community Newspaper to enable him to more.

He sued for enhanced conducive environment for journalists to thrive in the State.

Reeling out some of his achievements, the Council chairman said he has made impact on education through the construction of classrooms for primary schools in the area.

He has constructed roads and equally constructed shops at the Amukpe market.

He said his administration has also renovated and furnished the legislative complex of the council to give the lawmakers a conducive environment a conducive environment for them to deliver on their functions.

Present at the visit were the Vice Chairman of the Council, Rt. Hon. Vincent Ayomanor, Secretary to The Local Government, Hon. Felix Ayemidejor, HPM, NULGE Chairman, several Supervisory Councillor among others.
