“Rivers Is Not A Conquered Territory” Group Warns Proponents Of Ethnic Politics In Rivers State
The Concerned Rivers Peoples Movement For Unity CRPM4U has sounded a note of warning to proponents of ethnic Politics in Rivers State stressing that the state is not a conquered territory.
The group through its Coordinator Comrade Nwokoma Messiah said those fanning the embers off war with their ethnic agenda are the real enemies of the state.
The group also commended the state governor for towing the path of peace rather than trying to impress his new found friends and allies especially those who protested at the Government House, Port Harcourt with flags of the Ijaw National Congress rather than the state’s own flag. The group said they showed themselves to the public especially Nigerians that they are his real enemies and enemies of the state.
The group specifically came hard on the so called leaders of Rivers state who went to court to challenge the resolutions which was proposed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which is aimed at resolving the political impasse in the state describing their actions as unnecessary and irresponsible.
The statement also described the statements credited to Chief E K Clarke as an unnecessary busy body which is not befitting of somebody who describes himself as an elder statesman. The group described Chief Edwin Clarke as a man with strong hate for the Igbo speaking people in Rivers state who have contributed so much to the development of the state. The statement urged him to concentrate in politics of Rivers State and stop looking for the slightest excuse to divide Rivers State along ethnic lines.

“It is very important that we as a group concerned about the growth, development and unity of the state to stress here for record purposes, that Rivers state is not a conquered territory. Statements credited to the likes of Asari Dokibo, E K Clarke and others who have turned the issue in Rivers to ‘asawana’ politics are irresponsible and they should bear in mind that our dear state is not an Ijaw state. It is a multi ethnic state that has remained United and will not fall into the whims and caprices of ethnic jingoists like E K Clarke and Asari Dokibo who always view issues from ethnic view points” the group asserted.
The group in it’s statement also commended the former governor of the state Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for not allowing himself to be consumed by ethnic politics.
The former Governor of the state and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT Barr. Nyesom Wike never in his period as Governor showed any inkling of being a governor of one ethnic group. Infact it is on record that he showed himself to be a statesman. He gave the Ijaws a governor, gave them a Senatorial position which has eluded them since 2007 and also gave them the position of Executive Director Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC. The Ijaws today have the Managing Director of the NDDC and the Executive Director Finance and Administration of the Commission what else do they want from the Minister or President?”
“Asari Dokubo who has praised the president to high heavens have suddenly started painting him in bad light due to his hatred for the Minister of FCT. We advise Mr. President to avoid him because he is a known trouble maker who thrives in crisis. His hatred for the FCT Minister is a non issue because Rivers people know that he lacks political value . Left to him, Sim Fubara wouldn’t have been Governor so coming to make all the noise he is making should not be encouraged by giving it any attention”, the statement concluded
