Oborevwori Approves Bursary Award To Delta Students…See Date For Disbursement

By Daniel Dafe
Delta State Government has said that the planned protest by the National Association of Delta State Students over non-payment of bursary award was no longer necessary since the Governor of the state, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the payment of the 2023 bursary award.
This was contained in a statement on Thursday signed by Dr. Godfrey Enita, Executive Secretary, DTS Bursary and Scholarship Board, adding that the State Scholarship Board has been directed to make arrangements to commence disbursement to validly qualified students of Delta State origin by the first week of February 2024.
The statement continued: “I therefore urge the leadership of NADETSSU to shelve their planned protest since the core issue of the 2023 bursary is settled. Any protest at this time can only be counter-productive besides the consequences, which are unpredictable, given the history of youth protest in Nigeria. It is common knowledge that Gov. Oborevwori is not only youth friendly but also interested in youth development, which is a critical component of his M.O.R.E agenda. He is definitely a father figure whose love for students can only be described in the superlative.”

Furthermore, he appreciated the patience and understanding of Delta State Students and NADETSSU in particular, saying: “What is needed now is solidarity with your father, the Governor of Delta State.”
