The Otota of Okere Urhobo Kingdom High Chief (retired Brigadier General) Gold
Eburu has demanded for correction of the names of the Okere Urhobo monarch.

The respected retired Nigerian Army General made the demand in a press briefing
in Warri as he observed that the names and titles of his traditional ruler were
wrongly written as HRM King Ochuko Oyekpemi, Okpotiomu II of Odomusobo
in a photo news on page 5, Vanguard issue of Thursday 22nd February2024.

Eburu further stated that the errors appear deliberate and mischievous on the part
of the photo journalists that captured the event which was the commissioning of
the cottage hospital built by Warri South Local Government Council.

He noted that the names and titles of the reverred Traditional Ruler were mentioned severally by the Master of Ceremonies who covered the event.

“Even if he (the photo journalist) was not sure, he should have asked as the ethics of journalism demand. What about the editorial team.”

He also accused the photo journalist, Mr. Henry Unini, of practicing yellow
journalism for reducing Okere Urhobo Kingdom to a mere quarter in Okere by
referring to the Kingdom as “Odomusobo”.

Adding: “He should be warned to face his job and avoid being used for evil political machinations.”

He also noted that Vanguard had made many publications about the kingdom in
recent time to allow such embarrassing slip.

Eburu therefore demanded that Vanguard should repeat the same news in another
publication as soon as possible with the correct names and titles, HRM Ogheneochuko Morris Eyekpimi-Egbobonye, Owhotemu II, Orosuen of Okere
Urhobo Kingdom Warri.
