Residents of Sajere Town, Amukpe in Sapele local government area of Delta State have called on the Ministry of Environment to come to their aide as a result of flood.

Engr. Olokpa Wisdom Ogbotor, Youth Chairman of Sajere Town, Amukpe Community in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State says whenever it is rainy season many will be render homeless, farmland, roads and properties belonging to the good people of Sajere community will be sacked by the floods.

The Community Youth Chairman disclosed this during an interaction with journalists in Sapele on Monday.

He also appealed to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ejiro Jamani for urgent intervention before the rain will start.

He said that the lives of his people were at stake, noting that whenever it rains, the flood will destroy properties every year.

Olokpa Wisdom said that the flood over the years has done more harm than good to the residents of Sajere community, maintaining that it has deprived the free flow of transportation of their farm produce especially perishable goods to the market.

He added that the flood has become a nightmare not only to residents of Sajere town but also, staffs and students of the Delta State School of Nursing Sciences, Sapele Campus.

” This is what residents of Sajere community have been facing every year”

“Whenever it rains, my people will suffer throughout that period, the roads are bad as a result of the flood, many valuables including houses, cloths, food items and other means of livelihood have been destroyed by the unfortunate occurrence”.

“Our roads are not passable, lives of residents, students of the school of Nursing are at stake, people can no longer go about their normal daily activities due to the flood”.

” In the case of Sajere town, the incident is as a result of lack of drainage that will channel the water to the river whenever it rains”.

” We want the Delta State Governor and the Commissioner for Environment to come to our aide and do the needful before the rainy season will come and this is a passionate appeal”, He said.
