The Theatre Arts Department of the Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, yesterday, 25th April presented a play titled “Onowawi Shall Rise Again ” by Hope Eghagha.
The 16th Convocation Commemorative Drama was presented at the Arts Theatre, Site 3.
The Play is a story of ambition, oppression, injustice and triumph of popular resistance, victory, and emancipation of the people.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Andy Egwunyenga commended the Director of the Play, Chukwuma Anyanwu and the Department for the impactful play.
He reminded the appreciative audience that “quality education should awaken the “Onowawi” in us for a better Nigeria.”

The lead character, Onowawi was ably played and interpreted by Praise Obi, a 300 level student and King Ovighe was by John Kelvin, also in 300 level.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Andy O. Egwunyenga, his wife Prof. Ebele Egwunyenga, Deouty Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Rosemary Okoh, Provost, Oleh Campus, Prof. Elo Ibagere, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof. U. N. O. Edewor.
