Now listen, the duration of submersion (the time the body remains underwater) serves as a determining factor or a predictor of survival. The time the body of the victim spends underwater contributes more to whether or not the person will survive.

According to the survivors, the body of JUNIOR POPE was underwater for over 2hrs. If this narrative is true, then, even if you give him the whole oxygen in this world, his chances of survival is simply minimal, let’s say 7% – I mean 07/100 (You can make your research, and also ask those living beside waters or marine police to lecture you more, perhaps you will prove me wrong).

WHAT HAPPENS TO A DROWNING MAN?

Studies has shown and I also make this assertion out of experience that when a person’s head goes under water, an automatic reflex known as the laryngeal sphincter happens immediately which will make their airways close off. Now, for a person to breathe naturally and keep their oxygen levels up, the airways MUST remain OPEN.

Again, if your entire head comes into contact with water, it’s natural that you start holding your breath, that is why people hold their breath underwater so long as their head is still inside that water (confirm my assertion by submerging your head under water maybe using a bucket in your bathroom). If this process continues for a very long time, your body will start to panic and if it further continues without removing your head, you will begin to take in water, and eventually you will get drown if it’s in a big river.

Meanwhile, so long as you are still under water, you will start to struggle for air, and your lungs at this point will be filled with both air and water. Now, because the airways are already narrowed from struggling against water, it is hard for you to get oxygen into your lungs as you go under the water.

At this point, your body will start responding to drowning immediately as your brain suspects oxygen deprivation (this is called hypoxia). Here too, hypercapnic vasodilation happens because your body will continue to retain carbon dioxide since you no longer breath. It’s now this carbon dioxide that will widen your brain (we call it dilation) making more cool blood to enter into your brain. At this point, your brain may start dying, other sensitive organs will follow as well. If you are lucky enough to be rescued from the water within 5 mins, you have a higher chance of survival. If you are rescued after in about 15-20mins, you may survive too. But if you were brought out of the water after 2hrs just like the case of our brother (Jnr. Pope), humanly speaking, you can’t survive it. Your name na sorry.

From the foregoing, you can see that the case of our brother was not even that of lack of necessary CPR or inability to be taken to the hospital immediately, but he didn’t survive because he don stay pass de time he suppose survive. That’s why I earlier said here that everything that was done after seeing his body can be better equated to the case of people who are helpless and confused (in that situation, you can’t blame them much because they were not thinking well. They weren’t in their right state). He don already die that time. Na to avoid the case of Mohbad, that’s why they took him to many places for confirmation.

Well, let’s check out these questions :

1. Is Jnr Pope the only person that was not having a life jacket?
2. Are there others who didn’t have life jacket but survived it?
3. Is Jnr Pope destined to die in that incident while other survivors were destined to live?
4. Would he still be alive if he didn’t go for that shooting?
5. Can the case of predetermination be applied here?
6. Have people died inside water even while putting on life jackets?
7. What could have prevented his death?

Till you start answering the above questions and relating them to your experiences in life, only then will you realize that life is full of mysteries.
