In a move aimed at strengthening the Super Eagles’ coaching staff, Finidi George, the newly appointed coach of the Nigerian national team, has nominated Daniel Amokachi as his second assistant, alongside three foreign coaches for the roles of first assistant, fitness trainer, and match analyst, according to Sport Brief.

This development is coming barely a month before the Super Eagles’ crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification fixtures against South Africa and the Republic of Benin.

According to sources close to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Finidi George has submitted a list of his preferred assistants, which includes Amokachi, a former Nigerian forward, and three foreign coaches with impressive track records. The NFF has assured that it will carefully consider Finidi’s recommendations and work out the modalities for the payment of the wages of the backroom staff to avoid any issues of non-payment of salaries.
