BREAKING: 2024 BECE To Commence Thursday In Delta

The 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will now hold from Thursday, 6th to Tuesday, 11th June, 2024, across Delta State.

Recall that the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education earlier postponed the said examination that was to commence on Monday, 3rd and end on Friday, 7th June.

A statement from the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, on behalf of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu had said that the postponement was as a result of the nationwide strike declared by the Organized Labour over the inability of the Federal Government to reach an agreement with labour on the new national minimum wage.

Also recall that Labour suspended the strike for one week starting today.

Meanwhile, efforts by Oasis Magazine to get official confirmation of the commencement of the examination on Thursday proved abortive.

However, a source under conditions of anonymity stated that it was still unofficial but that the exam is likely to commence on Thursday.

“Let’s wait for the official confirmation from the PS,” he added

A government source not authorized to speak, said: “The time table will proceed in a chronological order, thereby adjusting itself to allow candidates to also sit for the exam on Saturday, 8th June, 2024. The Exam is expected to elapse on Tuesday, 11th June, 2024.”
