Navy Donates Educational Materials To Bakassi Schools

The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Victory, on Thursday, provided educational materials to several secondary schools in Bakassi Local Government Area, Cross River State.

Commodore Rotimi Oderemi, the Commander, emphasized that the donation reflects the navy’s commitment to supporting its host communities.

“This initiative is part of our approach to engaging positively with our host communities. The educational welfare of the youth in these areas is crucial to us,” Oderemi stated.

Oderemi highlighted that the navy’s responsibilities extend beyond national defense to include public service projects.

“We believe this support will significantly enhance the educational endeavors of the students who receive these materials,” he added.

He also encouraged the schools to utilize the donated items effectively.

The report also gathered that the navy launched an anti-drug abuse campaign during the donation event.

Roseline Ada, Deputy Commander of Narcotics at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, addressed the students, advising them to avoid illicit drugs for their well-being.

“Illicit drug use can severely impact your education and lead to societal detriment. Always use drugs only under a doctor’s guidance to avoid harmful effects,” she warned.

Mrs. Inyang Henshaw, Head of Administration at Bakassi Local Government Council, expressed gratitude to the navy, noting that the educational materials and anti-drug campaign are vital for the academic and moral development of the students. She urged other stakeholders to emulate the navy’s example in supporting the younger generation’s growth.

The schools benefiting from the donation include Community Secondary School, Esighi; Migrant Technical and Science School, Ifiang Ayong; and Government Secondary School, Ifiang Nsung.
