Otefe-Oghara: Delta State Polytechnic Holds 2nd Inaugural Lecture

Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, on Thursday held the institution’s 2nd in the Series of Inaugural Lectures.

Delivering the lecture entitled: ‘From Titbits to Network Systems: A Social Network Perspective,’ that held at Chief James Onanefe Ibori Auditorium, Mr. Akanmu, Amidu Akinpelumi, Gbolasere, a Chief lecturer in the polytechnic, said the purpose of the lecture was to dwell on his academic research and teaching experience all through the years.

He wondered why no one studies base one system as such.

Gbolasere noted that that life itself starts from titbits, saying this also happens with network systems.

In their separate remarks, the Rector of the institution, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri and Chairman, Governing Council, Chief Barr. Andre Oghene-Aga Orugbo, praised staff and students of the polytechnic.

Commenting on the lecture, the rector said digitalizing and networking are too key factors for success.

According to him, many persons like Mark Zuckerbeg became rich through networking.

Continuing, he said that an inaugural lecture gives the avenue for lecturers, students and the public to rub minds and chart new course.

Speaking further, he said the polytechnic stands out in the quality of lecturers when compared to others.

He said further: ‘We are dedicated to innovation,” just as he disclosed that apart from the fuel-less 2.5KVA generator produced by the school to be unveiled at the event, other innovations were in the offing.

On his part, Orugbo lauded the administration of Ufuophu-Biri, adding that making him rector is one of his greatest achievements as chairman of the Governing Council.

Meanwhile, in his remarks, Commissioner for Higher Education in the state, Prof Nyerovwo Tonukari, lauded the rector for his many achievements, while charging the staff to continue to be dedicated and the students to remain good ambassadors of the institution.

“I never knew inaugural lectures can take place in polytechnics; at least he has introduced it in the state now,” he said.

At the occasion, the fuel-less generator was unveiled before an excited audience that celebrated the feat with shouts of excitement and rounds of applause.

Dignitaries that graced the event include Olorogun Duncan Erhuvwu Ewhere, Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Conflict Resolution, Chief Vincent Atumah, Unuevwerho of Oghara Kingdom, Chief Frank Emiko, Chairman, Polytechnic Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and Prince Charles Abutoh, Senior Assistant to NDDC Governing Board.
