Trump Vows To Be “President For All Of America” After Assassination Attempt
By Halima Abdulkadiri
Donald Trump has pledged to run “to be president for all of America” as he accepted the Republican nomination at the party’s National Convention on Friday.
In his first public speech since surviving an assassination attempt, Trump addressed an enthusiastic crowd in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
“I stand before you this evening with a message of confidence, strength, and hope,” Trump declared. “Four months from now, we will have an incredible victory, and we will begin the four greatest years in the history of our country.”

“Together, we will launch a new era of safety, prosperity, and freedom for citizens of every race, religion, color, and creed,” he added. “I am running to be president for all of America, not half of America, because there is no victory in winning for half of America.”
Trump, 78, formally accepted his party’s nomination for the November 5 elections, where he will face incumbent Joe Biden. He will be running alongside vice presidential candidate JD Vance, a senator from Ohio who is 40 years his junior. Vance, a rising star within the Republican Party, was once a fierce critic of Trump but has since become a strong supporter.
Trump’s official nomination came just two days after the failed attempt on his life. During a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, a shooter managed to climb to an elevated position with an assault rifle, firing several shots that wounded Trump in the ear and killed one spectator. Despite his injury, Trump struck a defiant tone, pumping his fist while being whisked off the stage.
Appearing at the four-day party conference each night, Trump received standing ovations, wearing a white bandage on his right ear. The shooting has added to what has already been a tumultuous campaign season, marked by Trump’s criminal trials and concerns about the candidates’ age.
