The Affinity Group, a Socio-Economic and Political group in Delta state has reacted to the publication authored by one Oliver Fejiro, calling for the resignation of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Delta State Chairman, Elder Omene Sobotie, following the party’s underwhelming performance in the recently concluded Local Government Council (LGC) election in the state.

The group in a statement, said: “As a group committed to the growth, development, and unity of the APC, we feel compelled to respond to this demand. While we acknowledge the disappointment and frustration that often accompany electoral setbacks, we firmly believe that the resignation or removal of the State Chairman is not the solution to our current challenges.”

The statement continued: “Instead, we strongly advocate for unity and cohesion within our party ranks. We must recognize that our strength lies in our ability to work together, support one another, and leverage our diverse strengths and talents to achieve common goals. By fostering a culture of unity and inclusivity, we can create an environment that encourages constructive dialogue, constructive criticism, and collective problem-solving.

“History has shown us that demands for resignation or removal of party leaders often lead to further division, strife, and crisis within the party. We recall that in 2018, our party took the decision to boycott the same LGC election for similar reasons, yet no one called for the resignation of the then-State Chairman. The APC as a party should learn from its past experiences and focus on building a united front that will propel her towards success in future elections.

“As a group, we commend Honourable Festus Keyamo, for his tireless efforts in uniting our party and promoting its growth. His unwavering commitment to the party’s success is evident in his support for the LGC election, and we appreciate his leadership and vision. We urge all leaders, stakeholders, and members of our party to align with Honourable Keyamo’s vision of unity and work together to ensure our party’s continued growth and success.”

Furthermore, Affinity Group, said: “It is our plea that for the growth and development of opposition in the state, the APC should eschew divisive demands and instead focus on building a united, strong, and vibrant APC that will make our members proud and position us for victory in future elections.”
