Nigeria Shines As Bolaji Wins First Paralympic Badminton Match 2-0
Nigeria’s para-badminton player, Mariam Bolaji, made a strong debut at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, securing a 2-0 victory in her SL3 badminton match. Bolaji, ranked World Number 2 in the SL3 category, defeated India’s Mandeep Kaur with scores of 21-8, 21-14.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Bolaji expressed confidence after her win, stating that the victory had greatly boosted her morale. She added that she no longer feels intimidated by any of her competitors.

Bolaji is set to face an Australian opponent, yet to be determined, on Friday at 8:30 a.m. local time.
In another match, Nigeria’s Chigozie Jeremiah claimed a 2-0 win in the first set against Germany’s Marcel Adam in the men’s SL4 para-badminton category but was defeated in the second set on Thursday.
