DELSU SUG Assures Students Of No School Fees Increment, Clarifies Payment Policy
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has assured students that there will be no increment in approved school fees, following a meeting with the university management.
The union also announced changes to the school fees payment arrangement, accommodation application procedures and the introduction of a wallet feature on the student portal.
In an important notice dated November 4, 2026, and signed by the Secretary-General, Hon. Comr. Oliseyenum Victory, and the Executive President, Amb. Barr. Comr. Kingsley Ovedje Dumuju, the union said the resolutions followed a meeting held with the university management on Tuesday, November 3.
According to the notice, students are advised to disregard rumours and misinformation suggesting an increase in school fees, as the university management has not approved any increment.
The SUG also disclosed that students would be permitted to apply for university accommodation, subject to existing accommodation procedures and availability.
On the payment arrangement, the union announced the discontinuation of the previously existing 70/30 per cent school fees payment plan.
However, it clarified that the removal of the arrangement does not mean students are under any obligation to pay their school fees in the first semester.
The notice stated that students could pay their school fees in the second semester and would still be permitted to sit for their first-semester examinations.
The union further disclosed that the university management had introduced a wallet feature on the student portal to enable students to make payments towards their school fees until they accumulate the full amount required.
Students were encouraged to take advantage of the feature, which the union said provides an additional means of managing and preparing for their financial obligations.
On the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the SUG strongly encouraged students to apply for the loan scheme, assuring beneficiaries and applicants that they would be allowed to sit for their examinations without any form of discrimination.
The union reaffirmed its commitment to protecting students’ interests and ensuring that their welfare and academic pursuits receive the necessary attention.
It urged students to rely on official communication from the Students’ Union Government for accurate updates.
“Together, we stand for a better and more progressive DELSU,” the notice stated.
