NAIS Vice President Sets Up Girl Child Initiative To Reach Teenage Girls In Koko

The lives of over 300 girl children in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, were impacted recently, as the Vice President, National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS, Comr Jemide Eyitemi set up a Girl Child Program Initiative to reach out to teenage Girls in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area.

The Girl Child Program Initiative was organised by the Office of the Vice President, NAIS, ‘the National Body’ in commemoration of the International day of the Girl Child on the 11th of October.

The theme was: “Our Girls Our Priority

Participants were educated on the passive effect of teenage pregnancy, procrastination and its dent on academic prowess, Mental Health Vulnerability, The Girl Child & Her Hygiene and Say No to Bully’ & Peer Pressure.

The program was spearheaded by Comr. Jemide Temi, Vice President NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ITSEKIRI STUDENTS, a 400 level law student of Novena University Ogume, with her supportive team.

She was able to reach out to 300 girl children from age 13-18 in Koko Community, Warri North LGA.

She singlehandedly handled the topic ‘Procrastination and its dent on Academic Prowess’ throughout the program both in Warri South and Warri North, teaching all girls that Procrastination is the ‘thief of time’ and urged the students to start doing things earlier when they can, to enable them have the best result and be outstanding in their life pursuit.

In her words, “there is no shortcut to success in life,” saying they must go through the process and that to get a good result is to go through it well.

She urged them to read early for their examination.

Other speakers include Comr. Jemine Agbeyegbe, Comr. Anino Uremure and Comr. Famous Uwagbajumi.

The program was proudly sponsored by Hon. Festus Ashima; Executive Chairman Warri North LGA.

In attendance was the wife of the Executive Chairman, Warri North LGA, Hon. Mrs Omasan Ashima, who admonished the girls on abstinence from activities or actions that stand in conflict with their purpose in life and destiny.

She urged the girls to hearken and put into strict practices that which they have been taught by the Girl Child Advocates.

She assured the girls that the present government in WNLG has a deep concern and commitment to their wellbeing.

The Girl Child program theme was “Our Girls Our Priority.”

In attendance too were Hon. Racheal Edeh, Councillor Koko and some Council staffs.
