Former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, is pilling pressures on President Bola Tinubu, demanding a soft landing after Eddy Ogidi-Gbegbaje, a former permanent secretary, Delta State Government House confessed he withdrew N87billion in cash from one Bank on the orders of the former Delta Governor, an investigative journalist, Jackson Ude, has said.

According to a post on X, Ude added that “although Gbegbaje has carefully avoided saying the N87billion went to Okowa, investigators have uncovered that the huge sums ended up with the former Delta Governor.”

He continued: “Okowa is currently considering going to Accra, Ghana, in an attempt to lobby President Bola Tinubu for soft landing. But his challenge is that his international passport is being held by the EFCC. Tinubu is scheduled to arrive Accra on Monday to attend the inauguration of President-Elect John Mahama.

“Gbegbaje has been in detention at the EFCC detention facility in Port Harcourt for more than a month. Okowa has been accused of defrauding his state to the tune of more than N1.3trillion during his eight years reign as Governor,” his post concluded.

Meanwhile, attempts to reach Gbegbaje proved abortive at the time of this report, as messages sent to his phone via Whatsapp and SMS were not responded to.
