Ugolo Community Crises Not To Takeover Power But Purely Land Boundary Dispute – Onokpite
…Says Allegations To Takeover Power, Blatant Lies, Calls On Gov Oborevwori, Delta CP To Investigate Root Cause
The community crises that has enveloped Ugolo community of Okpe local government area of Delta state, which they claim has led to several persons injured has nothing to do with plans or attempts to takeover the community leadership or topple the government of the community.
One of the Ugolo-Okpe community leaders, Mr. Edafe Onokpite made this statement while reacting to a Facebook post with his picture and that of others accusing them of plans to takeover the leadership of Ugolo community when the main issues was on encroachment of Onokpite family land.
Onokpite who described the facebook post alleging them of plans to takeover power in Ugolo community, as mere fallacy, blatant liee, challenged those accusing them of coup to toppled the leadership of the Ugolo community to come up with the true story instead of this fabricated and cooked story.
He said Mr. Paul Iboyitete, Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori that was being dragged into this land boundary issue only came in to settle both parties but expressed surprise that his name was mentioned in the Facebook post.
Speaking on the issue, Mr. Edafe Onokpite said, “My attention was brought to a Facebook post that l have been accused of plans to takeover the leadership of Ugolo community with other persons and that our pictures were also displayed, hence am making this press briefing to let the whole world know that what we have in Ugolo is land boundary issue.
“Some years ago we had land boundary issues between the Onokpite family and
Adeode family, but surprisingly, the Adeode family now encroached into the Onokpite family land that has been shared by Mr. John Enakireru Osimi, Chief Chadaff Emomor, Mr. Ashere Cyril, Chief Okeh Mayor, late Chief Tenajera and others, with certified survey plan and number prepared at Orerokpe federal high court.
“”Thereafter, after paying the President General of Ugolo, Okakuro Benjamin Agbude the sun of N2m as part of settlement for the land, one among those who shared the land connived with others and encroached the Onokpite family land and they start selling the land we have already sold out with C of O of the land.
“When we noticed this we have to notify the Okpe local government council chairman, Hon. Esiovwa, the Ugolo District Head, Chief Dick Gberevbie, the PDP party chairman in Ward 3, other party leaders, the son of the Governor, Mr. Fred Oborevwori and other leaders in the community on the development about the land.
“So we were surprised when they are bring issues about plan to takeover government of Ugolo, diverting peoples mind from the issue of the land which we have reported to community and political leaders, hence we are calling on Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta State Commissioner of Police, Department of State Security, DSS and other security agents to look into the root course.”
