PDP Suffers Another Blow, As Hon. Somadina Anwasia Dumps Party, Backs Senator Ned Nwoko

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has been hit with yet another major defection as Hon. Somadina Anwasia, a respected party chieftain and former Deputy Chairman of Oshimili South LGA, officially resigned from the party. His resignation, which takes effect from February 3, 2025, is in solidarity with Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko’s push for the creation of Anioma State.

This latest exit is coming barely two days after Senator Ned Nwoko himself dumped the PDP, and it appears to be triggering a ripple effect, with stakeholders pulling out in droves.
Hon. Anwasia has been a key figure in Delta politics for nearly two decades. He joined PDP in 2007 after his long service in the Nigerian Army and has held several strategic positions within the party and government. His political journey within PDP has been marked by significant contributions:
