PDP Crisis: Court Asks Samuel Anyanwu 7 Days To Tender Supreme Court’s Verdict

The Federal High Court in Abuja has directed Senator Samuel Anyanwu to provide a copy of the Supreme Court ruling that reinstated him as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) within seven days.
This directive was issued by Justice Inyang Ekwo after Anyanwu’s legal representative, Chief Ken Njamanze, SAN, cited the apex court’s ruling as pivotal to the case.
According to Vanguard, the court had previously heard a suit filed by Anyanwu seeking to halt the enforcement of prior judgments that removed him from office and recognized Rt. Hon. Udeh-Okoye Ememchukwu as the rightful PDP National Secretary.

The Court of Appeal in Enugu had earlier affirmed a High Court decision that declared Anyanwu’s position void due to his candidacy in the 2023 Imo State governorship election, which violated the PDP Constitution.
Following these rulings, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) backed Udeh-Okoye’s appointment.
However, Anyanwu challenged the verdicts at the Supreme Court and also sought a stay of execution at the High Court.
Last week, the Supreme Court overturned the decisions of the lower courts, ruling that the dispute was an internal party matter beyond judicial intervention.
This ruling has led both factions—Anyanwu’s and Udeh-Okoye’s—to claim victory.
Udeh-Okoye has countered Anyanwu’s claims, arguing that PDP’s constitution mandates resignation from party leadership before running for office.
He maintains that the party lawfully appointed him to serve the remainder of Anyanwu’s term.
With all legal submissions made, Justice Ekwo has scheduled April 28 for judgment.
The decision will determine whether Anyanwu’s reinstatement stands or if Udeh-Okoye’s appointment remains valid.
