APC Isoko Nation Leaders Endorse Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas For Second term

…Calls On FG To Appoint Isoko Person As MD, South South Development Commission
The Elders/Leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Isoko ethnic nationality have passed a vote of confidence on the senator representing Delta South senatorial district, Sen. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and unanimously endorsed him for a second tenure.
The leaders took this decision in a meeting held on Tuesday 1st of April, 2025 at the country home of the leader of APC in Isoko Nation, Chief Lucky Jerry Esigie (JP) in Olomoro, Isoko South local government area of Delta.
In an opening remark, the leader of the APC in Isoko Nation, Chief Lucky Esigie appreciated God and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Senate President, H. E. Sen. GodsWill Akpabio for appointing Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas as the chairman of the senate committee on local content.
He said this appointment has given our senator a better advantage to influence facilities to Isoko land and the senatorial district at large.

The Isoko leader assured everyone that Isoko has gotten a voice in National politics, calling on every APC stakeholders in Isoko to unite, support and work in line with Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas. While speaking, he stated that “If we must achieve Isoko interest, we must set aside personal interests and work with one accord under senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas.” He further stated that “Isoko now has a voice, but what we must do is to unite and be in one accord behind our Senator.”
Other leaders who spoke also emphasised on the importance of unity to achieve our common goals. The leaders also called on our Social media practitioners to be cautious and not to use the Social media to further divide and polarise the party in Isoko nation.
The highlight of the discussion was a vote of confidence passed on the senator representing Delta South senatoral district, Sen. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas. This follows a motion moved by Goddy Ewherode and was supported by Chief Oyibo Panama. The entire leaders in a unanimous decision then endorsed Sen. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas for a second tenure come 2027.
In another light, the leadership resolved to call on the federal government to address the marginalization of the Isoko ethnic nationality in terms of federal government appointments. The house lamented the lack of federal appointments for the Isoko people despite the huge economic contribution to the nation’s economy.
The Isoko Nation APC Leaders therefore resolved to call on the federal government to address this imbalance and appoint an Isoko person as the Managing Director of the newly established South South Development Commission.
The APC Isoko Nation leaders concluded by a resolve to pursue this demand in a united front.
