CDS Establishes Sector 4 Operation Hadin Kai In Adamawa

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has announced the establishment of Sector 4 of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), with its headquarters in Mubi, to address emerging security challenges in northern Adamawa.

The announcement was made during the CDS’s operational visit to Adamawa on Friday, aimed at assessing troop readiness, addressing operational gaps, and strengthening civil-military cooperation.

While on the visit, Musa paid a courtesy call on Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola, where he commended the state for its support to the Armed Forces and families of fallen heroes.

He also lauded the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the operational capacity of the military, describing the support as instrumental in achieving recent gains in security operations.

Musa stressed the importance of both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies in combating insecurity, adding that sustainable peace could only be achieved through addressing root causes such as poverty and illiteracy.

“When citizens benefit directly from governance, they are more likely to support and protect the system,” he said, noting that the relative peace in Adamawa was due to the resilience and cooperation of the people.

Responding, Fintiri pledged the state’s continued support to the military, saying his administration would provide tactical, strategic, and logistical assistance to bolster security operations.

The governor also disclosed that all internal roads within the Gibson Jalo Barracks in Yola would be rehabilitated, and that local hunters had been recruited to complement military efforts in hard-to-reach areas.

Fintiri expressed appreciation to the CDS for the establishment of Sector 4 in Mubi, describing the move as timely in view of the recent spike in terrorist activities.

While addressing troops during the visit, the CDS expressed gratitude for their commitment and sacrifice, conveying the appreciation of President Bola Tinubu.

He also announced plans to construct additional barracks and increase military presence in the region to effectively contain threats and safeguard lives and property.

Musa later visited 153 Base Service Group of the Nigerian Air Force to assess the state of its facilities, and was briefed by the Commander, 23 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. O.A. Agwu, on the operational situation in the area.
