DELSU VC Bags NSBMB Fellowship Award

The Vice Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has been honoured with a Fellowship by the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB).

The conferment ceremony which took place on Tuesday, 8th July, 2025 at Nasarawa State University, Keffi was the Society’s 41st Scientific Conference and General Assembly.

Speaking during the conferment ceremony, President of NSBMB, Professor Matthew Wegwu said the selection process of the awardees was rigorous and transparent.

He further noted that Professor Asagba and the other newly conferred Fellows were deemed deserving of the honour in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of the discipline and Association.

Professor Wegwu tasked the newly inducted Fellows to be good ambassadors of the Society.

In his response, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba expressed his delight at being inducted as a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB).

He pledged to remain committed to the development of the Society and affirmed that/the honour conferred on him by the Association will be well justified through continued dedication and service.

The fellowship conferment ceremony not only celebrates outstanding contributions to the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology but also highlights the value of purposeful academic leadership.

For Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, the honour affirms his professional excellence and scholarly distinction.

As Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, the recognition serves as a motivation to deepen his commitment to academic growth, research advancement, and institutional development. It will further strengthen his efforts to make a lasting and meaningful impact during his tenure. Other recipients of the Fellowship award by NSBMB are Professor Muazu Gusau Abubakar, Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba, Professor Lawan Bala Burutai, Dr Chinelo Jaconta Nwosu, Professor Abubakar Gidado and Professor Dahiru Daniel.
