Laughable Desperation: Delta APC Mocks Report Of Gov Sheriff Oborevwori’s Alleged Negotiation To Return To PDP As Fake
By Daniel Dafe
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has reacted to reports published by a section of the media of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s alleged negotiation to return to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying it is fake news.
This was contained in a statement on Wednesday, signed by Valentine Onojeghuo Esq, State Publicity Secretary, APC, Delta State.
The statement reads in party: “The All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State under the chairmanship of Elder Omeni Sobotie, has read with utter disappointment and indignation a recent report alleging that His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside some top political figures in Delta State, is in secret negotiations with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to facilitate his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The Party wishes to state categorically and unequivocally that this report is completely fake, unfounded, and a deliberate fabrication by political merchants of lies who are intimidated by the soaring popularity, sterling performance, and entrenched grassroots support enjoyed by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori within the APC and across Delta State.
“It is important to clarify for the benefit of the general public that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has not at any time entered into any form of negotiation, secret or open, with Nyesom Wike or any PDP figure to return to their crisis-ridden Party. The Governor remains focused, committed and resolute in his decision to align with the APC to deliver transformative leadership and progressive governance to the people of Delta State.”
Continuing, the party, said: “Indeed, it is not only puerile but outright laughable to imagine that a sitting Governor who enjoys the confidence of his people, the leadership of the APC at state and national levels, and has been consolidating the Party’s structure since his entry would contemplate returning to a PDP that is currently engulfed in leadership tussles, credibility crises and mass defections nationwide.”

Adding: “This publication is nothing but the latest in a series of coordinated propaganda and blackmail tactics by desperate political actors who are jittery and clearly aware that they stand no chance against Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in 2027. Having been rejected by the people and having lost relevance within the evolving political architecture of Delta State, their only remaining strategy is to concoct lies in the forlorn hope of sowing seeds of discord, distracting the Governor from his people-oriented programs and destabilizing the APC’s internal cohesion.”
“We recall that Delta APC had earlier warned Party faithful and the general public to be wary of such sinister schemes designed to mislead, confuse and derail the unity of purpose that currently defines our great Party in the state. These false reports only reinforce the extent to which certain elements are willing to go in their futile attempts to remain politically relevant.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we state that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remains a committed, loyal and active member of the APC. There is no negotiation or plan whatsoever for him to return to the PDP now or at any time in the foreseeable future. His administration continues to record visible strides in infrastructure development, security improvement, youth empowerment, agricultural investments and inclusive governance under the combined synergy of the Renewed Hope for M.O.R.E. Agenda,” the party said.
Furthermore, the party urged the good people of Delta State to disregard “this fake report in its entirety as a nonsensical garbage,” while calling on them “to remain vigilant, steadfast and supportive of the Governor and the Party’s leadership” as they continue to work tirelessly to deliver good governance and build a Delta State that works for all.
“We also wish to sound a clear note of warning to the purveyors of such falsehoods that the era of reckless political propaganda is over. Delta APC will not be distracted by these cheap media gimmicks sponsored by any individual or group of persons that persist in spreading deliberate falsehoods with the forlorn hope of creating confusion within the Party and tarnishing the image of its leaders<” the statement said.
“Delta APC remains united, focused and committed to deepening democratic governance and delivering the dividends of democracy to every part of the State,” the statement concluded.
