Police Arrest Suspected Kidnappers Terrorising Ogwashi-Uku, Environs, Nab Three Cultists In Abraka

…Recover Ak-47 Rifle, Two Pump Action Guns, Others

The police in Delta State, acting on credible intelligence on the activities of some suspected kidnappers in Ogwashi-Uku, Ubuluku and Isseluku, on Sunday at about 1,20p.m, stormed a suspected criminal hideout along Ibusa road and effected the arrest of a notorious suspected kidnapper, Chiadiji Collins AKA “Smooth aged 42yrs.

According to a statement by SP. Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer,
Delta State Command, Asaba, the suspect has been on the command’s watchlist for series of kidnapping activities within Ibusa / Ogwashi-Uku and Asaba axis, adding that operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team ( CP-SAT ) led by ASP Julius Robinson in a combined effort with operatives from the command’s X-Squad and Buffallo Patrol Teams of the command carried out the operation.

The statement continued: “Upon interrogation of the suspect, he led operatives to his residence at Ewulu community in Aniocha South LGA, Delta State where a search warrant was executed during which one AK-47 rifle, forty (40) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered.”

Adding: “Preliminary investigation also led to the arrest of one Ezechie Andrew of the same community in whose possession two (2) pump action and two (2) live cartridges were recovered.”

The police revealed that “both suspects are gang members suspected to be involved in a series of kidnappings in Ogwashi-Uku, Isseluku and other parts of Delta State,” saying that “they are in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”

In another development, the arrest of suspected cultists in Abraka has been reported.

A statement by the police, said: “On 30th of July 2025 at about 0630hrs, operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) while acting on credible information stormed a criminal hideout at Big Gate, Campus 3, Abraka where one Benjamin Okwufulueze 21yrs, Augustine Ifeanyi 22yrs, Iruma Japheth 27yrs, were arrested and one fabricated beretta pistol with four live ammunition were recovered.”

Continuing, the police said: “Also recovered were one black cap with Eiye inscription and one battle axe.”

The suspects are said to have confessed to being members of Eiye confraternity.

“They are all in custody and the investigation is ongoing,” the statement said.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda urged parents and guardians to discourage their children and wards from all forms of criminality and cult related activities, just as he advised members of the public to contact the police and report any suspicious persons or movements in their environment.
