The Management of Delta State University (DELSU) under the leadership of Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba as Vice Chancellor, has taken a significant step towards digitalising the University’s operations and information management.

The initiative marked the transition from the traditional analogue and paper-based management of staff information to a fully digital e-directory system.

Speaking at the commencement of the migration exercise on Monday, 4th August, 2025, DELSU’s Director of ICT, Dr F.Z. Okwonu stated that the upgrade aligns with the vision of the Chief Executive of DELSU, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba to advance the institution’s operations through strategic deployment of information and communication technologies (ICTs).

Dr Okwonu further explained that the exercise, an approach which is consistent with global practices would enable easy access to staff data online by making it available at the click of a button. He noted that the staff data capture initiative reflects one of the key priorities of the Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba led administration to ensure that all University records are driven by information and communication technologies (ICTs).

He added that it also aims to prevent impersonation by individuals who falsely claim to be the University staff to deceive the public, saying that it will ensure that verified staff information is readily accessible online from anywhere in the world, thereby improving the university’s global visibility. Dr Okwonu concluded by expressing appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for approving the exercise.

The DELSU e-directory is the first of its kind in the history of the University, and perhaps Delta State. It is an additional testament of the institution’s trail-blazing accomplishments as Delta State’s premier university and the university of first choice.
