DELSU VC Prioritises Health With Free Medical Screening For Staff Members

Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, under the Vice Chancellorship of Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has approved free and compulsory medical screening for all members of staff of the University.

The initiative reflects the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, who is keen on promoting the health and wellbeing of staff as a foundation for a vibrant University workforce.

Speaking during the screening exercise on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at the University Health Centre, Site II, DELSU, Abraka, the Director of University Health Services, DELSU, Dr Bobola Agbonle, said the screening exercise is meant to identify latent and obvious health complications among members of staff.

She further revealed that the exercise is helping to reveal health issues such as hypertension, diabetes, prostate issues, eye problems, cervical condition, and others that some staff were not aware of.

According to her, the exercise does not stop at just identifying the medical issues but extends to managing the identified challenges.

She also said the screening is entirely free as the University through the Vice Chancellor, has taken care of the cost of the medical screening for all members of staff.

Dr Agbonle expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for approving and funding the medical screening exercise for members of staff of the University.

The medical screening exercise that commenced on Tuesday, 19th August, 2025 will end on Monday, 22nd September, 2025.
