Itsekiri Youths Destroy UPU Banner At Urhobo Cultural Centre

Some Itsekiri youths on Saturday, 23rd August, 2025 destroyed the banner of Urhobo Progress Union ( UPU) at UPU Cultural Centre along Okere, Warri during a procession to celebrate the fourth anniversary of their monarch, HIs Majesty Atuwatse 111.

The said youths armed with guns, cutlasses, knives and broken bottles had earlier launched an unprovoked attacks on the youths of Otovwodo (Agbassa) Community who attempted to prevent them from taking their procession to the area and in the process injured scores of youths of Otovwodo ( Agbassa) Community who are lying critically ill at a private hospital in Warri.

According to sources, It took soldiers to restore normalcy to the area at as the time of filing this report.

Unconfirmed report stated that the Itsekiri youths boasted that they will burn down the Urhobo Cultural Centre along Okere Road.

Meanwhile there was a similar clash between Itsekiri youths and the youths of Okere Urhobo in Okere Market of Okere Urhobo Kingdom over the procession.

The Unuovwodo ( traditional) of Otovwodo ( Agbassa) Community, High Chief Julius Tobore Edafiadjebre (JP) corroborated the report of the unprovoked attacks, as he said that the police was aware of the ugly developments.
