Nani Conducts On-The-Spot Assessment Of De-Silting Work In Ashaka

The Board Chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Olorogun John Nani today 12th August, 2025 conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the ongoing de-silting work at Ashaka in Ndokwa East LGA to ascertain the level of work done so far.

Accompanied by Dr. Charles Olisa, Member representing Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the DESOPADEC Governing Board, Olorogun Nani reiterated the Commission’s commitment to meeting the needs of the people in all its mandate areas.

Under his leadership and that of Managing Director/CEO Chief Festus Ochonogor, the present Board is poised to deliver on the Commission’s core mandate areas.

Emphasizing that the de-silting intervention is aimed at minimizing flash flooding incidents by clearing blocked channels, Olorogun Nani advised residents of Ashaka to refrain from dumping waste in drainages which could undermine the efforts of the Commission.

Thanking the Board Chairman for the timely inspection of the ongoing exercise and commending the Commission’s efforts in addressing the flooding challenges in the area, Dr. Olisa requested that the de-silting job be extended to other parts of Ndokwa ethnic nationality.

Also present during the inspection exercise were Comr. Kingsley Iweka (SSA to the Governor); staff from the Environmental Department, Ndokwa East LGA and others.

The inspection underscores the Commission’s commitment to the development and well-being of communities in its mandate areas.
