A Legal Practitioner & Advocate for Electoral Justice, Jeffrey Pere Oromoni, Esq., has said that “the suspension of the final delineation of electoral wards in Warri Federal Constituency by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) amounts to a direct disenfranchisement of the good people of Warri Federal Constituency from exercising their constitutional rights to vote and be voted for in the 2027 general elections.”

He said this in a Facebook post on Sunday.

According to the lawyer, “this decision by INEC is not only unjust but also runs contrary to the clear pronouncements of the Supreme Court, which has ordered that the people of Warri Federal Constituency must be properly delineated into wards and polling units before any credible elections can take place.”

Adding: “By suspending this vital process, INEC is effectively silencing the voices of our people and denying them the opportunity to participate in shaping the future of Nigeria.

“Let it be made abundantly clear: there are currently no validly existing wards and polling units in Warri Federal Constituency. Proceeding with Continuous Voter Registration or elections under any circumstances would amount to a grave constitutional breach and a desecration of the democratic rights of our people.”

He continued: “This decision cannot stand. I call on INEC to immediately rescind this suspension, comply with the Supreme Court’s order and take urgent steps to complete the delineation exercise in Warri Federal Constituency. Failure to do so will be viewed as a deliberate attempt to exclude an entire constituency from Nigeria’s democratic process.

“Our democracy is only as strong as our willingness to ensure that every Nigerian, irrespective of where they live, is given a fair and equal chance to participate in free, fair and credible elections. We will not relent until justice is done and the constitutional rights of the people of Warri Federal Constituency are fully restored by implementing the supreme court’s ordered judgement.”
