TCN: National Union Of Electricity Employees Begins Strike

The National Union of electricity employees under the Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN has commenced strike following expiration of the Union’s ultimatum to TCN Management over some staff welfare and operational issues.
A statement by the Acting General Secretary of the Union, Dominic Igwebike states that the union is demanding implementation of National Minimum Wage, an end to casualization of Workers, provision of working tools and materials.

Other issues that led to the industrial action include; Lack of operational Vehicles, non provision of Personal Protective Equipments and issues arising from the unbundling of TCN as well as non-payment of retirement benefits.
The union says it is compelled to withdraw its services until the demands are met by the TCN Management.
