Lower Erejuwa Fire Disaster: Oborevwori Commiserates With Victims

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has commiserated with victims of the early morning fire disaster of Friday, 3rd October, 2025 that destroyed goods and properties worth several millions of naira in two buildings along Lower Erejuwa Road Warri.

A member of Delta State Peace Building And Advisory Council, Chief Hon Dr Ambassador Michael Ezeh conveyed the message of commiseration of Governor Oborevwori when he led a delegation of some Delta State Government’s appointees on an assessment visit to the site of the inferno on Saturday, 4th October, 2025.

Ezeh who is a former Executive Assistant ( EA) on Community Development to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the immediate past President of Ohaneaze Ndigbo, Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts, spoke to newsmen during the visit, as he noted that the extent of destruction of the inferno was massive.

Chief Ezeh sympathized with victims, as he advised that victims should summon courage to overcome their loses.

He however noted that no life was lost in the fire disaster as he promised to relay his assessment and appeal for assistance of victims to Governor Oborevwori for consideration.

He recalled that a similar fire incident occured at the nearby 14 Lower Erejuwa Road in 2019 when he was the President of Ohaneaze Ndigbo, Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts and that former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa dolled out twenty million naira to victims to ameliorate their sufferings.

Chief Ezeh who described Governor Oborevwori as a kindhearted leader, therefore expressed hope that Governor Oborevwori will come to the aid of victims.

The Chairman of Lower Erejuwa Road, Motor Spare Parts Traders Association 11, Charles Okorie had earlier narrated how and when the inferno occured as he berated the Delta State Fire Station in Warri for its deficiency in combating the inferno.

An embittered Chairman of Lower Erejuwa Road Motor Spare Parts Traders Association 11 who complained that over three hundred million naira was lost in the fire incident, appealed to the Delta State Government, Warri South Local Government Council, corporate organizations and public spirited individuals to render assistance to victims.

A victim, Elder Daniel Okeke who spoke during the visit, made a similar appeal, as he complained that he lost his means of livelihood in the inferno. He also complained that his case was made worse by hoodlums who looted his burnt, unburnt goods and working equipment before he arrived the scene of the incident.

Okeke who thanked the Delta State Government’s appointees team for the visit, expressed hope that Governor Oborevwori will come to the aid of victims, judging by his love for the area as shown in the rehabilitation of Lower Erejuwa Road.

Another victim, Mrs Tega Isaac, who is a tenant in one of the burnt compound, complained in tears that she and her family have been rendered homeless by the inferno.

“We were unable to savage any of our property. All we were concerned with was the safety of our lives,” she added.

Mrs Isaac therefore made a passionate appeal to Governor Oborevwori to come to the aid of victims.

A member of the visiting committee of Delta State Government ‘ appointees, Nze Francis Onuora, a Senior Special Assistant ( SSA ) to Governor Oborevwori on Non Indigenes Affairs, who spoke also, expressed sympathy with victims.

Onuora who is also a chieftain of Ohaneaze Ndigbo Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts however advised that traders and tenants should always be mindful of the connection of their electrical appliances and that they should ensure that their electrical appliances are switched off when they are not at home or stores.

Other Delta State Government’s appointees on the visit included: Hon Nnaeneka Ndulue ( Special Assistant to Governor Oborevwori on Youth Mobilization) Sunny Okeke ( Special Assistant to Governor Oborevwori On Non Indigene Traders) , Emmanuel Nzelu ( Special Assistant to Governor Oborevwori On Niger Delta Affairs and Mrs Adeniyi Dolapo ( Special Assistant to Governor Oborevwori on Non Indigenes Affairs)
