Delta Journalists Gear Up For 2025 NUJ Press Week November 16–23

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has announced its much-anticipated 2025 Press Week, scheduled to hold from Sunday, November 16 to Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Asaba.

The week-long celebration, themed “Tax Regimes and Exchange Rate Unification: Economic Implications and the Media’s Strategic Role,” promises a rich lineup of events dedicated to reflection, recognition, and renewed commitment to journalism excellence.

Activities for the week, according to a statement by the Planning Committee, endorsed by, Comrades Pere Botu and Barth Ozah, Chairman and Secretary respectively, include thanksgiving services, visits to media houses, a sensitization walk, medical and social outreaches, a novelty football match, and the grand Opening Ceremony, Lecture, and Awards on 20th November, 2025 at Orchid Hotels, Asaba, starting at 11:00 a.m.

The keynote address will be delivered by Distinguished Senator Joel Onowakpor Thomas of Delta South Senatorial District, while His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, will grace the event as the Special Guest of Honour while the Executive Chairman,
Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS), Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata, will be one of the discussants.

The NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahya, will serve as Chief Host, with Comrade Churchill Oyowe, Chairman of NUJ Delta State Council, as the Host.

The NUJ Delta Council emphasized that the 2025 Press Week aims to deepen dialogue, drive socio-economic development, and celebrate the enduring influence of the media in shaping a better society.
