DELSU Hosts 2025 International Hybrid Conference On Anti-Corruption, Dec 9

Delta State University, Abraka, through its Centre for Integrity and Anti-Corruption Studies, is set to host the 2025 International Hybrid Conference in celebration of the UN International Anti-Corruption Day and Human Rights Day.

The conference is themed “Ethics, Human Responsibility, and Accountability in the Age of AI, Globalisation, Sustainability, and Contemporary Challenges in Society: Interdisciplinary Perspectives.”

This global event will convene scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and civil society actors to explore practical strategies for strengthening transparency, ethics, and accountability in public life.

Scheduled for Tuesday, December 9, 2025, by 10:00 a.m. at the Faculty of Management Sciences, Site III, DELSU, Abraka, the conference will provide a vibrant platform for interrogating topical issues such as public procurement integrity, financial crimes, judicial ethics, corporate governance, and the expanding role of technology in promoting accountability.

The host and Director of the Centre, Prof. Mark Omorovie Ikeke, noted that the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Host, Prof. Samuel O. Asagba, graciously approved the initiative and endorsed the constitution of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), comprising representatives from various academic departments across the University, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the conference.

According to Prof. Ikeke, the physical session of the conference will take place on December 9 in alignment with World Anti-Corruption Day, while the virtual session will be held on December 10, coinciding with World Human Rights Day. The Centre has also secured renowned international scholars for the event, including Prof. Hakeem Tijani (United States), who will deliver the Keynote Address, and Prof. Naal Mohammed Kavil (Ghana), who will present the Lead Paper.

In addition, Prof. Ikeke revealed that the Centre has successfully established three academic journals to support ongoing scholarship in governance, integrity, human rights, and anti-corruption studies.

The conference is expected to attract participation from key national and international institutions such as the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), National Population Commission (NPC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Amnesty International, and the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), among others.

With its widely publicised call for papers generating significant academic interest, the conference underscores DELSU’s growing reputation as a leading voice in governance, ethics, and integrity discourse in Nigeria. Beyond knowledge sharing, it emphasises policy relevance, cross-sector collaboration, and capacity-building; particularly for young researchers committed to advancing national development.

The 2025 conference is already poised to stimulate meaningful dialogue, strengthen institutional partnerships, and lay a strong foundation for sustained policy engagement aimed at combating corruption and promoting ethical leadership across sectors.
