DELSU Institutes Annual Awards, Honours I5, As VC Clocks One Year In Office

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, on Monday honoured 15 staff as part of activities to celebrate the first anniversary of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Asagba.

Speaking to journalists in Abraka during the celebration, Prof. Asagba said the award ceremony will be an annual event.

According to him, the awards to deserving staff will “boost staff morale.”

Furthermore, he said that in the first quarter of 2026, his administration will hold another award ceremony to honour only academic staff.

Continuing, the VC said the awards will be given to the best positive staff, staff with the highest quality of publications, just as he disclosed that others that will get the awards will be based on the assessment of students.

Recipients of the 2025 Vice Chancellor Award during the said event were presented with an undisclosed cash prize alongside award certificates.

They include Professor Onofere Princewill Okereka (Professor of Public Administration), Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr. Mamerhi Enaohwo (Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and Doctor on call at the University Health Centre, Violet Elohor Ikolo (Deputy Librarian, College of Health Sciences), Dr. Sunday Obro (Head of Department and Senior Lecturer, Social Science Education, Faculty of Education), Dr. lgere Bright E.(Senior Lecturer, Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science) and Mr. Efe Endurance Ahama (Lecturer Il, Department of Anatomy Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences).

The list also includes Mr.Omajuwa Peter Ekakitie (Deputy Director and Head of the Sports Department of the University), Mrs. Ejiroghene Etobro (Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office) and Ms. Blessing Omogbiya (Deputy Registrar and Admissions Officer), Mrs. Ufuoma Ohwonigho (Principal Assistant Registrar, Registrar’s Office), Ms. Lucy Enaowho (Principal Assistant Registrar, Verifications Unit) and Okwuokei Christopher (Chief Accountant and Head of Cash Office, Bursary).

Others are Mr. Solomon Onosakponome Ighomuaye (Chief Internal Auditor and Head of Fixed Assets and Capital Expenditure Verification Section of the Internal Audit Department), Mr.Ifewario Israel Oghenero (Senior Computer Operator, Faculty of Oleh Campus and Mrs. Igwala Augustina (Assistant Executive Officer, Department of Language and Linguistics, Faculty of Arts).
