DELSU: Your Leadership Over The Past One Year Has Been Steady, Visionary, Inclusive, Ufiofio Tells VC

The Registrar, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Mrs. Rufina Ufiofio, has praised the leadership style of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Asagba, saying his leadership over the past one year has been steady, visionary and inclusive.”

Mrs. Ufiofio said this in Abraka while delivering the vote of thanks during the press conference marking the completion of one year in office of Prof. Asagba.

According to her, the VC has “inspired confidence, promoted academic excellence and strengthened institutional governance.”

Adding; “Under your watch, the University has made notable strides in academic programmes, staff development, student welfare, research visibility, infrastructure enhancement and partnerships. We acknowledge the long hours, personal sacrifices and steadfast commitment you have invested in steering the institution forward.”

Furthermore, she thanked God for sustaining the Vice‑Chancellor and granting him wisdom, courage and resilience during his first year of service.

She continued: “We thank God for the progress we have recorded so far and for the opportunity to gather and share a candid account of that progress with you, members of the press and the public.”

She said further: “I must express special appreciation to the State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Right Hon. Elder Sheriff Oboroevwori. The Governing Council for its unwavering support and oversight; to Senate and University Management for their collaborative spirit; to Deans, Directors and Heads of Departments for implementing policies at Faculty and Departmental levels; and to our hardworking academic and non‑teaching staff whose dedication keeps the University running day in and day out, your contributions are the bedrock of all achievements.”

“To the student body, led by the Student Union leaders, thank you for partnering with Management in promoting peace, discipline and academic engagement on campus. To our alumni, parents and host communities, your continued encouragement and support remain invaluable. We recognize the sacrifices and cooperation of our host communities in facilitating the safe and peaceful environment that makes learning possible,” she added.

Speaking further, the Registrar, said: “We also appreciate our partners, donors, contractors and collaborators — both local and international — who have invested resources, expertise and goodwill in our programmes and projects. Your partnerships help translate vision into tangible results.

“We appreciate the College of Chaplains for the constant support and prayers for the University.”

“As we close, let us reaffirm our collective commitment to the vision articulated by our Vice‑Chancellor: to advance Delta State University, Abraka, as a centre of academic excellence, research innovation and service to society. We seek your continued prayers, partnership and constructive engagement as we work to realize this vision,” she concluded.
