Consider Ekeremor For Deputy To Rectify Political Imbalance - Group

The Ekeremor Democratic Movement (EDM), has exhorted Bayelsa State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, who is maternally a native of Ayamasa community in Ekeremor Local Government Area to consider the local government area for the late Deputy Governor’s replacement.

The prestigious group which stands for democracy and transparency, exhorted Governor Diri to nominate the replacement for the departed deputy governor from Ekeremor LGA.

Senator Diri’s deputy, Dr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who passed away on 11, December, 2025, has created a vital vacuum in the government for replacement within three months under Section 191(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

The group in a statement issued on Tuesday by the President, Dr. John Peremobowei, said Ekeremor has exhibited unfaltering commitment and support for Senator Douye Diri’s administration from inception, and deserves the deputy governor’s office to rectify the political imbalance in Bayelsa west senatorial district.

He said this is a perfect opportunity for the governor to acknowledge and reward the unfaltering support of the people of Ekeremor with the deputy governor’s office – as there are many qualified individuals with requisite administrative competence, qualities, knowledge, experience for the job.

The group noted Governor Diri bold support for Ekeremor to produce the Senator in the next general elections, commences with the consideration of Ekeremor for the late deputy’s replacement for political stability.

“The governor, who is supporting and campaigning for Ekeremor senate agenda behind the scene, should employ the medium to manifest his support for the Ekeremor people.

“The Ekeremor people will have the assurance of governor’s support if he nominates an individual from Ekeremor for deputy’s replacement.

“We the Ekeremor people, we have contributed immensely in Senator Diri’s administration, and our unfaltering support should be reciprocated.

“Ekeremor has not felt the impacts of Senator Diri administration in appointments, infrastructure, human capital development, employment.

“Unlike our brother LGA, Sagbama, handling several sensitive offices in the government, such as Chief of Staff, Commissioner for Finance, SA Political, and other appointments.

“The governor’s consideration of Ekeremor for the deputy governor’s office will reflect his love, support for the people of Ekeremor, and not mere delusional words,” the group said.
