2026 Cultural Day: Oruarivie Abraka Kingdom Bans Cutlasses, Dangerous Weapons 

The Oruarivie Traditional Council in Abraka, Delta State, has announced a ban on the carrying, use, or possession of cutlasses and other dangerous weapons during the 2026 Ovwuvwe Annual Festival.

In an official communication dated May 14, 2026, and addressed to all ruling houses within the kingdom, the directive was issued on the instruction of His Royal Majesty, Akpomeyoma Majoroh, Ojeta II, the Ovie of Oruarivie Abraka Kingdom.

The statement, signed by Chief (Barr.) E.J. Efe, President General and Secretary to the Oruarivie Abraka Traditional Council, emphasized that the decision was taken to ensure security and maintain order throughout the festival, which is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

According to the directive, anyone found violating the ban will be handed over to security agencies for appropriate action, adding that the suspension takes immediate effect.

The council urged community leaders, including ruling houses, chiefs, and youth representatives, to disseminate the information widely within their quarters to prevent any security breaches or embarrassment during the celebration.

The Traditional Council also expressed appreciation for the cooperation of residents and wished all indigenes a peaceful and successful festival.
