The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a directive mandating the centralized collation and announcement of results from its National Assembly primary elections, effectively prohibiting state-level media briefings by election committees.

In a communication dated May 17, 2026, and addressed to all Chairmen of National Assembly Primary Election Committees, the party outlined established procedures for handling election results.

According to the directive, results are to be collated first at the ward level before proceeding to Local Government Area (LGA) collation.

The party emphasized that no committee is authorized to address the media within their respective states of assignment regarding the outcome of the primaries. Instead, all official announcements, where necessary, will be conducted exclusively in Abuja after the complete submission of results.

The directive was signed by the APC National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, who urged all concerned officials to strictly adhere to the guidelines.

Copies of the communication were also sent to APC state chairmen nationwide, reinforcing the party’s commitment to a uniform and controlled process in the management of its primary election outcomes.

The move is seen as part of efforts by the ruling party to ensure consistency, reduce conflicting reports, and maintain order in the dissemination of sensitive electoral information.
