Delta CP Directs DPOs To Secure Churches, Mosques, Schools Across State

The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the state to strengthen security around churches, mosques, schools and correctional centres, while also warning officers against acts of indiscipline and professional misconduct.

The directive was issued during a strategic meeting held on Wednesday with senior officers of the Delta State Police Command to review issues relating to security, discipline and professional conduct within the force.
The meeting was attended by members of the Command Management Team, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Departments.

Addressing the officers, the police commissioner stressed the need for strict adherence to the rules and regulations guiding the conduct of personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.

He warned that professional misconduct by any officer would not be tolerated, adding that supervising officers would be held vicariously liable for the actions of their subordinates.

CP Oyeniyi also expressed concern over what he described as inadequate community engagement by some DPOs and ordered all divisional heads to actively engage stakeholders within their jurisdictions.
